Challenge
As a small, independent coffee shop, a major challenge was standing out and competing for market share in an industry dominated by large, established chains like Starbucks and Peet's. We needed a way to differentiate ourselves and attract loyal customers seeking premium, craft coffee experiences.
Goal
Our goal was to leverage a mobile app to offer unique value propositions not typically found at major chains, like highly customizable delivery locations, a loyalty rewards program, and an artisanal brand identity that would resonate with our target demographic of discerning coffee drinkers.
Solution
To stand out from competitors, our app solution focused on specialty coffee drinks, implemented a points-based loyalty program to incentivize repeats purchase, and enabled users to save multiple favorite delivery locations for seamless ordering.
Market research claim
Relevant market research showed that mobile apps account for a staggering 72% of total time spent in apps in the Food & Drink category (App Annie 2021 Mobile App Forecast), presenting a major engagement opportunity.
Market research problem
Additionally, the coffee shop market is highly saturated and struggles with low customer loyalty. Our app sought to increase retention and cultivate loyal customers with differentiated offerings.
